Food Security

Food production is not defined by calorie intake alone. By focusing on improving availability and access to the right kinds of food, CARE can have the most success in achieving its goal of fighting poverty and reducing hunger. CARE, in partnership with stakeholders, supports the empowerment of poor women and girls to realize gender equitable and sustainable food & nutrition security. The Nutrition at the CentertTeam contributes to improved nutritional status by developing and promoting strategies that apply a nutrition lens to food security systems including:

  • Social protection schemes to provide access to food (vouchers/conditional food transfers)

  • Homestead food production

  • Storage and food processing
